What are Ivy-league schools looking for?
Basically, they are looking for a well rounded, smart person with a passion for learning %26amp; succeeding. They also want someone who wants to go to their school %26amp; has done some research on them.



It's ideal to have a strong GPA, good SAT/ACT scores (but these are much less important than GPA as GPA is over a longer time period and some people don't test well), good extra-curricular activities (any will do, but be good at what you do %26amp; ideally have shown some leadership and/or awards or recognition in it), interviews. Also, the essays can help, if you find a way to distinguish yourself. Remember, the schools want good diversity - in every sense of the word.



I went to Dartmouth, and I worked with the admissions committee, and I interviewed potential candidates.



Regarding average GPA's, SAT scores, etc, you can get books that list them...they vary by school. Your high school probably has some books on this that you can borrow for free.



Some advice: go visit the schools, stay over for the night if you can, request an alumni interview.
