I want to go to an ivy leauge university?

my average is around 93/100.....i am going to work harder to get a 95 average or even more if i can. i am in ninth grade now...how can i get to go to an ivy leauge school ...i would mostly like to go to yale...but i would be happy and honored to go to any ivy leauge school

You're doing fine for ninth grade. You shouldn't really worry at all, if you keep up that average you have a great chance. Join clubs at your school only if you like that activity, don't do stuff just because you think 'Yale will like it'. Always work your hardest and have fun. When you get around to applying to a school, make sure you actually like the school, don't just go for a name/prestige. High school years are supposed to be fun, and you should enjoy them before heading off to an academically elite place where you'll be working all day. Yale is very tough to get into, but just keep up the grades, get a strong essay, and you have as much a shot as anyone else who applies. Good luck.
Reply:You need to participate in school activities, sports, be on student council and also school fundraisers would help a lot. Out of school activities that you should do would be get a job, help with church activities, help out the community, and play sports.
Reply:Work on your spelling, capitalization, punctuation for those college applications! It helps to have a hook: valedictorian, minority, service, sports, or a good combination. You need to do VERY WELL on the SAT/ACT, and 93% won't do it generally. They like well-rounded individuals from a variety of states, schools, backgrounds. Watch the old Gilmore Girls and Rory and Paris' efforts to get into Yale and/or Harvard.
Reply:Get involved with 2 or three extracurricular activities, like the School Newspaper, school government, and a charitiable organization. Brown-nose a few teachers, and take all of the classes they offer, if possible. They weill give you very strong letters of recommendation. Start studying now for the SATs.
Reply:First of all, you should contact all of the schools you are interested in so that you can find out their specific requirements for entry. Then you should make sure that you are doing everything that those schools require. You should definitely make sure that you are taking a lot of honors/AP courses and that your are involved in some extra-curricular activities. I would also consider doing some community service of some kind. The ivy league schools are very competitive, but with an early start and good grades, you have as good of a chance as anyone else. Reply:You have a good start, but the ivy leagues are incredibly tough to get into, since they get thousands of applications. Your grades will likely need to be closer to 100/100. If you maintain healthy study habits and make sure you get every ounce of learning you can from your classes, you'll be on your way. Work on your vocabulary by reading books that are "classics". Science fiction also exposes you to a variety of words you otherwise would not know. Work on your spelling by using "spell check" and paying attention to the errors the computer finds. Work on your grammar as well. The ivy leagues and all colleges expect you to write a composition about yourself before considering you as a prospective student.
Reply:If you can't spell league, you probably won't get into an Ivy League school.
Reply:Takes a lot of money too. Better try to get a scholarship. I would think superior SAT scores and great grades would do it.
Reply:Aside from having top-notch grades, it would help to have an inside connection at the school; someone who can advocate for you.



Also...your parents should have tons of money, or you should qualify for financial aid, unless you somehow earn an academic scholarship. Good luck.
Reply:You definitely want to get your average up. My average was around 93 in 9th grade too, and now as a senior I have a 95, so you can definitely do it. Try to get your GPA to be as close to 4.0 as possible. You also need REALLY good extracurricular activities that you're passionate about, especially volunteerism, a ridiculous SAT or ACT score (as close to perfect as you can), perfect your writing skills, etc. Take all the honors and AP classes as you can, and establish good relationships with good teachers at your school so that when the time comes you can get stellar letters of recommendation. Start saving too, because Ivy Leagues are expensive!
