Is it possible for me to transfer to an Ivy League School such as, Princeton %26amp; Columbia from SUNY - Stony Brook University?
When is it best to transfer and what requirements do I need to meet in order to get in?
Transfering To Ivy League Schools?
Depends what year you are in. The longer you wait the harder it is to transfer as less and less openings will appear. You can try to transfer at any time. Not to get your hopes up, transferring to ANY Ivy League school is almost a mission impossible scenario. People getting straight As from other Ivy League schools are frequently rejected. You need a really good and convincing reason, plus a hell of a lotta luck.
There are no "requirements" per se... but if you go to the school's website they have "recommendations"... such as foreign languages, extracurriculars (playing an intrument, being a drama actor, being a good athlete, etc.)... surf through their sites and see what stuff you can pile on to look good... and of course good grades are probably a must...
Reply:Cornell is the easiest of the Ivy's to transfer to. I knew two people who tried all the schools and Cornell is the only one to accept both of them.
Reply:Every university has a website, where they detail what they require of transfer students. In your case, you'd probably need to look under undergraduate admissions and then find the info specific to transfer students.
Not all Ivys accept transfer students. Princeton, for example, does not. Columbia, however, does. So check each school's website to find out if they take transfer applications, and if so, what you need to do in order to apply. I'll link you to the transfer page at Columbia so you get an idea for what's required.
