Poison Ivy help?
Ivy Dry is a good product. So is Caladryl. Plain rubbing alcohol also helps dry out the rash. If none of these works satisfactorily for you, see your doctor.

Meanwhile, although we've been warned for decades that scratching the blisters can make the rash spread, it turns out that it can't. The rash is a reaction to urushiol, a substance on the plant but not in the blisters. The only way scratching could make the rash spread would be to scratch the area while the urushiol is still there--i. e. soon after contact. However, scratching CAN cause the affected skin to become infected.

For future reference, if you know you've touched poison ivy, you should wash the area as soon as possible. Strong soap is often recommended, but if none is available, even plain water can help. I also put rubbing alcohol on the area right away. And if you've been in poison ivy but it didn't touch your skin, wash your clothes as soon as possible to get the urushiol off them.
Reply:Believe it or not bleach works. My Mon had a real sever case of it.A friend told her to pat it with bleach. She said it was an old fashion remedy.Boy,did it work. It not only prevented it from spreading,it dried it out.
