Will ivy grow on a chain link fence in Florida or is it too hot here? Will a freeze kill it?

I have several potted ivy plants which I don't quite know what to do with. I've a chain link fence but it gets lots of sun.

Formely in South Fla planting region 10B now residing in region 9...please keep you ivy inside the weather tropical and sub-tropical is no good for ivy (english ivy). You can take them outside during the winter (no direct sun) months but beware if the temp is lower than 50F at night. A little caution if you want to plant over a chain link fence most plants will grow very fast during the summer months it might destroy the fence some are very aggressive. Excellent book to look for is Florida Gardener's Guide by Tom MacCubbin %26amp; Georgia B. Tasker...It's my little bible for gardening when in doubt.
Reply:Confederate jasmine also called star jasmine is an ideal vine to grow on a chain link fence in Florida. It is hardy and will take drought and not be killed by a light frost. And it has a great scent and a thick growth to cover the fence.
Reply:Join Yahoo group gardenmessenger they will help you - also they have a web-site www.gardenmessenger.net which is very good
