thanks for all your answers!
Poison ivy?
NO. 1 if you think that you may have been exposed, take a cool bath as soon as possible, this will help to remove toxins before they can cause trouble! I have never been allergic to poison ivy, poison oak or poison sumac. The name of the toxin is Urushiol and is a common factor in all three! However my brother and sister were very allergic. and they used Ivy Dry. The infection lasted about a week or two. Another remedy is to go swimming it a pool which is a little on the heavy side of chlorination1The main problem, DO NOT SCRATCH! it will only make it worse. Once the toxin is inside the skin scratching makes it worse and wherever you scratch it is likely to appear. If you are likely to be in an area where you can be exposed regularly. You can ask your doctor for a series of shots each year, which will help to prevent your being affected! Make sure that your clothing has been washed thoroughly before wearing them again! Also with each time you get poison Ivy, oak, Sumac, it becomes easier to be reinfected. Good Luck!
Reply:Thanks for the rateing Good Luck! Report It
Reply:I use benadryl clear gel...it really helps my itching - get it almost every summer. It'll last for a 2 to 4 weeks depending on how bad you got it. The worse it is, the longer it will last.
If you have a type of benadryl, you shouldn't put it on more than 3 - 4 times a day because it has the allergy medicines in it. You don't want to od.
Oh and NO SCRATCHING!!! It feels good at the time but it'll make it last a LOT longer.
