If I touched poison ivy (it is winter) this afternoon after school, is it possible, about 4 hours later for there to be a rash coming on?
I got scratched by a stick today, and there is a bump around where I got scratched. In my nieghbor's backyard, they used to have poison ivy, but they claim that it got rid of.
If you do think it is poison ivy...what should I do at this early of a stage?
How Long Does it Take for Poison Ivy?
What I do for my rashes(I camp a whole lot.)is I mix 1 tablespoon of sour cream, a teaspoon of flour, and about half a teaspoon of baking soda and rub it on my rashes. Oh, and if you really got into poison ivy, it would take about 2 days for you to see a visible rash.
Reply:First of all, wash well with a strong soap like lye if you can find it. Then pat dry with paper towel. Don't scratch! You can put calamine lotion on it to help dry it. Whatever you do, don't scratch it or you will spread it! There will be little blisters %26amp; if they break the liquid makes is spread to new areas.
When I was a kid I used to get it every summer/fall. Had it all over my face, arms, legs, back (from touching there after the poison ivy). My brother had it so bad he was hospitalized %26amp; I could see him in a window many stories up %26amp; his head looked like a balloon. My dad had it so bad his fingers were webbed together with bubbles. It can be horrible!
There used to be a good product called Anivy but I can't find it any more. It was more of a thick cream, light pink (probably with calamine lotion in it) but it would dry on your skin %26amp; crack. Was pretty gross to have to wear it but it did help dry it up.
Reply:go to a drugstore and by an item call IVYDRY and put it on the rash the season doesn't make much difference although it's more active in the summertime.
good luck to ya.
