Do Ivy League schools look down on students who have taken a gap year, even if it was to study/intern/travel? How does being an international student affect my chances?
Thanks for reading.
Ivy League schools and gap years?
No they don't look down on taking a year off, if the year was a productive one in which you have built your extra curricular profile. Being international can be a help (all things being equal). Diversity of the class is something all schools want. Schools want people with broad world views who will deeping the intellectual conversation on campus and who are likely to do great things in the world. The key is still grades and in most cases SAT or similar scores. DA
