Climbing Ivy?
Ivy needs little or no care, once the plants are established forget about them, until then water well once or twice a week.

The common Ivy can grow up to 5ft per year, by keeping them cliped you can restrict the growth
Reply:I agree with jet set and i also planted climbing ivy only to regret it it sticks in any brickwork and spreads like crazy, you think you can control it but it roots underground and comes up everywhere, it even roots between brickwork.

If you are happy with it, just water it well over the winter, because although you think it won't need water over winter, all plants suffer because there is not enough moisture underground, after this winter you won't need to water it at all. it will look after itself.
Reply:Depends on your zone, but water wont hurt them to get a start. It took my ivy a good 3 yrs. before it actually started to spread and look good. Its said-- 1st yr. "sleeps" 2nd yr."creeps" 3rd yr. "leaps" This is true with any perinnial.
Reply:Ivy is incredibly hardy. Water little %26amp; often until established.

I hope you don't live to regret planting ivy (as I do). Be careful to keep it well trimmed, as in no time, it'll take over!!
Reply:i have it all around my garden, it need no tending trust me
Reply:Your ivy should be alright over the winter unless we get a long dry spell, if so give a little water to moisten the roots, your plants should be established enough by spring therefore will need no tending other than trimming.
