Getting into Ivy League (from Toronto, Canada)?

I'm from Toronto %26amp; I was wondering how I would have a better chance of getting into Ivy League or another university in the states.

I'm aware about writing the SAT or ACT. (is it better to write both)?

But in Canada (Ontario ) we don't have GPA's or anything of that sort. (we go by percentages 0-100)

I also understand that i have to be a well-rounded student (joining many clubs, being active in the school etc...)

But I'm afraid that being in a school in Ontario would hold me back from getting into a University in the states. The reason is that Ontario revamps the curriculum EVERY YEAR, making it EASIER and EASIER.

They were almost going to take out Calculus completely.

I was thinking about taking AP courses but unfortunately my school doesn't offer it.

Also, Canada does not have "honour classes".

Anyways, I did some digging around %26amp; found a private school that offered AP courses during the summer but the prices ranged from $6000 - 7000 (a little bit TOO pricey).

Getting into Ivy League (from Toronto, Canada)?
No matter where you go to school, no matter how many AP classes you have, no matter if you graduate at the top of your class or not, it is insanely hard to get into any Ivy League school, ESPICALLY Harvard.

My cousin graduated at the top of his class with a bachelors from a state University. He had a 4.0 (highest you can get here in the US), and even finished some huge theory that is being published in all these textbooks and stuff (Its hard to explain but aparently it's insanely cool). Anyways. Point being he is as smart as they get and even he couldnt get into Harvard after 4 years, #3 in the class with the best score you can get.

Chances are you going to a school in Canada will not hold you back. It is well know that the education system there is way better then here in the U.S. But it is very hard to get into an Ivy League school while going to public school. It very rarely happens. If you really want to go, you would be best off trying to swing the tution for the AP courses. Maybe theres some sort of scolarship you can get or tuition assistance.

I dont know what types of tests you take to get into University there but the ACT I think is usually only a midwest thing here in the U.S. But I could be wrong. You would want to take the SAT. It is alot better test and I'm sure they would rather have you take them. I dont even think you can get in only on the ACT. I dont think you would need to take both though.

I know that probably didnt help much. But just keep your grades up, at least stay in the top 95%, take the SAT's and score as high as you can. They will not really take anyone with much less then a perfect score (harvard I know I dont know much about the other schools).

I know for a fact that kids from around the world go to all the Ivy League schools so just dont lose hope and dont give up.

Good Luck!
