How to be accepted into ivy league schools?

i am a high school sophomore diligently working my butt off all the time to get into one of the ivy leagues, preferably yale, harvard, or princeton. Although i am taking the highest level of courses, i am afraid i may be rejected. i am involved in numerous extracurricular activities. How can i improve my chances of going to an ivy college?

You're assuming rationality among admissions committee members. The variables are complex, and some highly subjective, others hybrid (both subjective objective).. Don't be afraid to be, and maybe you can be Microsoft Gates part 2.
Reply:The Ivies are so competitive... you need something to really stand out, like spend a summer feeding orphans in a third world country or something like that. Also, establish clubs and be an officer in as many clubs as you can.
Reply:I greatly admire your amibition, especially early into high school. As for what you need to do to get into an ivy league, its going to be tough. You will need to take quite a few AP and honors courses during your Junior and Senior year. And when you said that you are involved in "numerous" extracurricular activities, I would be careful with that. Choose a few that you will be devoted to and don't forget, SUSTAINED involvement in your extra-curriculars, meaning no quitting after just 1-2 years. So besides all that, you need to really set yourself apart from everyone else. If I were you, I would look into taking community college classes. They show that you are trying to get as close as possible to a college atmosphere. Like you, I am also in high school. I am a senior and am also taking 17 units at a community college. It was what I believe has changed me and what can change you as well. So, get good grades, take APs and honors, commit yourself to clubs and volunteer work, and take college classes if at all possible for you.
