HELP!! How to kill poison ivy growing up & around my blueberry bush?

HELP!!!

I have a very nice blueberry bush that has poison ivy coming up through it for the 2nd year.... yet this time it's trying to strangle the bush.

Being very allergic to it, what ever is needed, my hubby will need to do.

Anyway, how can I kill the poison ivy without killing the blueberry bush AND how not to poison the blueberries themselves!

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, LH! :)

HELP!! How to kill poison ivy growing up %26amp; around my blueberry bush?
listen to the first two answers. you will have to be diligent and pull it. the problem with putting any pesticide on it as that that will affect to blueberry bush. sorry but it is time for good old fashion labor.

once you get most of it out though think about putting some landscaping fabric down underneath the bush to prevent this from happening in the future. a good quality fabric held in place by pins and then rock or bark. and it would look nice to.
Reply:Blueberries have relatively shallow root systems so avoid digging the poison- ivy out if it is very large. If it can be easily yanked ( wear plastic gloves) go for it. If not here's what ya do:1-Cut the ivy at the base and remove it carefully from the bush. It's OK to leave some of it in the bush if he has to, but just remember all parts of a poison ivy plant including the roots are still poison even when they are long dead. He should wear plastic gloves because anyone can get poison ivy after enough exposures. With some of us it just takes more exposures before it affects us. ( The more "immunity" your body builds up to it, the more your skin reacts) 2- As the poison ivy grows back spray it with Round-up (or its generic equivalent). Do not get any on the blueberry bush, spray the regrowth as soon as it has two or three leaves. 3-Repeat the spray if the ivy comes back--poison ivy is one of the tougher ones to kill, but in the end the round-up will do it. 4- The round -up is neutralized as soon as it contacts soil. It will not hurt the roots of the blueberry but it will (after a couple applications) kill the roots of the poison ivy because it is absorbed by the leaves and moves through the whole plant
Reply:I would have your husband put on very thick gloves, long-sleeved shirt and pants and pull out that poison ivy. As long as he gets the roots, it should kill it. I would also wash the berries well before eating them.
Reply:You have to dig it out by ALL the roots.
Reply:pull it out its the only way sure to get rid of it withhout killing anything
